Picturehouse plays ball with Gracie

Oscar Nominee-Elisabeth and Andrew Shue to Appear in Autobiographical Film

NEW YORK, May 22, 2006 — Picturehouse has acquired all North American rights to Gracie, directed by Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) and starring Oscar Nominee-Elisabeth Shue, with Carly Schroeder (Firewall, Mean Creek) as Gracie, and Shue’s brother Andrew in a supporting role. The announcement was made today by Bob Berney, president of Picturehouse.

Set in 1978, and inspired by the Shue Family’s real life events, Gracie is the story of a sixteen year-old girl, who, after a family tragedy changed her life, fought for, and won the right for girls everywhere to play competitive soccer. Andrew Shue, Lemore Syvan of Elevation Filmworks, Elisabeth Shue, John Shue and Davis Guggenheim will serve as producers.

"Everyone involved with this project brings a tremendous amount of passion and commitment,” said Berney. "We look forward to working with them to bring Gracie to audiences everywhere."

IEG Virtual Studios has picked up all foreign rights to Gracie.

"This is a very touching family story and I’m proud to be involved with bringing it to the big screen," said King.

The deal was brokered on behalf of Picturehouse by Carolyn Blackwood, Executive Vice President of Business Affairs and Co-Productions, New Line and negotiated on behalf of the film by the Shues, Syvan and by attorney George Sheanshang.

Launched in April 2005, Picturehouse is the joint venture of two leaders of the entertainment community - HBO and New Line Cinema. Picturehouse currently has in release Mary Harron's The Notorious Bettie Page starring Gretchen Mol. Upcoming films include Steven Shainberg's Fur, which stars Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr.; Robert Altman’s A Prairie Home Companion based on Garrison Keillor's legendary radio variety show and starring Keillor (as himself), with Academy Award-winners Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Tommy Lee Jones, Academy Award-nominees Lily Tomlin, John C. Reilly, Woody Harrelson, Virginia Madsen, “Saturday Night Live's” Maya Rudolph and Lindsay Lohan and Guillermo del Toro’s dark fairy tale Pan’s Labyrinth.
